DIY or do it yourself guide is intended to show you how to replace the engine air filter in the Toyota Camry but it may also be helpful for other Toyota models such as the 4Runner, Avalon, Corolla,
Celica, Solara, Matrix, FJ
Cruiser, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Matrix, Prius, Rav4, Sequoia, Sienna, Venza, and the Yaris as they may have similar air filters. Please check your owners manual for proper OEM replacement
instructions and manufacturer recommended maintenance time intervals on how often to change your air filter. This guide for replacing your air filter is for picture illustration only and I do not take

models that have bolts instead of retaining clips on the engine air filter box cover. |

The air filter housing of the Toyota Camry is located in the engine compartment under the hood and the access it you will need to first
release the hood using the "hood release" lever in the vehicle located below the steering column on the driver side. After you pop the hood latch you will need to insert your fingers under the
hood and feel for the hood release and lift up on it to lift the hood. |

Once the hood is up the air filter box is located in the front right side (driver's side) of the engine compartment. On the right hand
side of the air box are two metal retention clips (or 10mm bolts depending on your model year) that hold the top of the Camry air filter housing in place, you will need to push on the tab and it
will pop off. There is one clip in the front and one in the back on the right side of the air filter box. |

Once the retention clips are removed there are two tabs on the left hand side of the air filter cover that can be released once you lift
up on the cover. |

Pull the cover off and the air filter is directly below and easily removed. Inspect both sides of the filter and if it appears to be clean
you may not need to replace it yet. If the filter is dirty you will need to replace it with an OEM filter or after market air filter that can be purchase at any auto parts store such as Advanced
Auto Parts, Discount Auto Parts, Pep Boys, or Napa Auto Parts. The Toyota
genuine OEM part number is 17801-0H010, Purolator A35649, Fram CA10171 and K&N 33-2370. Before replacing the old air filter you may want to use a vacuum to clean out any debris or leaves that may be in
the air filter housing while you have the cover off. |

After you insert the air filter in the Toyota Camry you will need to line up and insert the tabs on the left side of the air filter cover before you
push the retaining clips (or screws depending on your model year) back into place. |
